Photobook Club Seoul presents #2 정희승의 부적절한 은유들 | Heeseung CHUNG's Inadequate Metaphors.
Inadequate Metaphors (2013) is the title of the 11th Daum Prize Exhibition by Heeseung Chung, who won this Prize, a program established in 2002 to support the creative work of young artists, after submitting her Reading and Still Life series in 2013.
This book here with the same title completes her project a work that “visually crosses the artist’s studio, spaces of a botanical garden and other subjects” and “it’s based on a very direct photographic attitude, but at the same time such simplicity produces extreme complexity.”
It had been carefully designed by Yeoun Joo Park, who was able to give a special rhythm to Chung’s work in this book, that includes texts in Korean and English.
정희승의 '부적절한 은유들(2013)'은 11회 다음작가상 수상자 작품집으로 아트선재센터 전시와 연계하여 발간되었습니다.
11회 다음작가전과 다음작가選으로 발표되는 <부적절한 은유들>(2013)은 정희승이 지난 작업의 연장선상에서 사진과 대상의 내면성에 좀 더 깊이 있게 접근한 시도로 평가된다. 자신의 작업실과 식물원의 공간과 대상을 교차시키며 보여주는 이 작업은 그의 전작들과 마찬가지로 매우 직접적인 사진적 태도를 바탕에 두고 있으면서도 그 단순함은 극단적인 복잡성을 생산한다.

이 책의 이미지 전개는 의식의 흐름처럼 구성되어있습니다. 박연주 디자이너의 독특한 리듬감 있는 편집이 돋보이고 특히 통일된 사진의 방향은 전통적인 사진책의 형태와 범주를 벗어났지만 새로운 시각을 제안, 확장시켜주었습니다.
