Photobook Club Seoul presents #41 김옥선의 제주도 | Oksun KIM’s Jeju Island.
This book is published in conjunction with the exhibition the South at Ilwoo foundation. The title of the series in the book is The Shining Things.
Shining Things Around
For nearly a decade, Oksun KIM has captured strangers in her photographs. This time she has chosen to work on trees. About half of those images are palm trees indigenous to Jeju island where she currently resides, along with other types of arbors. Some of the trees stand alone, while others stand together, in mundane places or in the woods. She must have started to feel how each and every one of those trees is growing, as she began to explore the surrounding landscapes she lives in more carefully. - Youngwook LEE(Art Critic | Professor at Jeonju University)
